Google Explains Title Changes

Addressing the concerns of many webmasters who find that Google sometimes show alternative titles in the organic search results, Google's Pierre Far has given an explanation.

While we all know that Google often changes the snippet or description of a site in the search results, what many of us don't know is that Google will often change the Title without notice.

Pierre explains that apart from the many signals used, Google still considers the tag as the primary source of a title for your page and then decides which title to show to users. But it often so happens that webmasters use the same title tag for all or some pages on their website which might not be the best one to be shown for all keywords relevant to the site.
